THE ENVIRONS    

 
Gualdo, is  a  particularly  charming  little  town   in the   heart of  the  Marche region,  it  is  located  in  a   wonderful   rural  setting   and  in  a  natural   area  of  considerable historic  and  environmental  interest

  It  lies on  top of   a   hill  at the  height  of    652   metres  above    sea  level  between  the  valleys  of  the   Tennacola  and    Salino  streams. The  exceptional panoramic  position of  the  town  lets  one’s  gaze  wander from  the  not far-off  Sybilline  Mountains (called  the   blue  mountains)  to  the   sharp  outline  of  Monte  Conero on   the  Adriatic  coast. The  shady avenue  which leads  to  the   ancient  town centre is bordered with beautiful, century-old  horse-chestnuts   which protect  the  tourists  in   the  hot  summer  days  and  seem  to  preserve  the  silence  and  the   harmony  of  the  place.

  Ancient, interesting, historic and  gastronomic  traditions   are  still  living  in the  small  town   of   Gualdo   whose original  features are   perfectly preserved  thank  to  the  love   and  devotion   of  its  inhabitants

INTERESTING PLACES:     

• Romolo Murri’s  personal   library;  he  was   a   priest  and  the founder  of  the   first  Christian  Democracy party.

• The  parish  church   of  Saint  Savino   set  in  the  centre  of  the  town, in  neoclassical  style  where   you  can admire ancient,  suggestive  paintings  together with    a  stone  bas-relief   which  dates  back  to   the  17th  century; it  depicts  Our  Lady offering   the  Child  Jesus  to  a  saint.

• The  church  of  “Our  lady  of  graces”  which   dates  back  to  the 12th  century  and  preserves  an   interesting   15th century  fresco

Macerata ,  the  provincial center,  is    only at  36  km   of  distance  from  Gualdo.  It offers  a  characteristic  and  suggestive  town  centre and   all  the  facilities   and  services of the   great  town  without   losing   its  human  qualities. Besides   a lot  of  typical  restaurants and  shops there  are also  interesting  museums  and monuments.    The  Sferisterio  spectacular opera  season   which  takes  place  in  August  is  of   sure    artistic and cultural  interest.
